¡¡¡¡Dr.
Qu started his professional activities in 1985 when
he graduated from Xian Medical College. He had been
working in the second teaching hospital affiliated
Xian Medical University. During this period, Dr.
Qu had served as a resident, chief resident, fellow,
attending surgeon in the department of cardio-thoracic
surgery, and also as a research fellow in the laboratory
of surgery for half a year. His significant results
for open-heart surgical procedures were published
in the Chinese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular
Surgery.
In 1992, he joined the national research project,
which is called ¡°Clinical and Experimental Investigation
in Surgical Treatment for Dissected Aortic Aneurysm
of Thoracic Aorta¡±. He had over 10 publications
in the very authoritative journals in the field
and won the Second National Prize for Scientific
and Technological Advancement. In the research in
preventing collapsed lung injury during aortic operation
with one-lung ventilation and left heart bypass,
Dr. Qu made successful models in both rabbits and
canines, discovered the factors resulting in pulmonary
lesion, and then practiced his suggestion successfully
in both experimental and clinical study.
From 1995 to 1997, Dr. Qu had been doing clinical
research in surgical treatment of mitral valve disease.
His two papers about ¡°evaluation of effectiveness
of mitral vulvular operation by Right Chest Electric
Admittance Plethysmography¡± and ¡°effects of mitral
valve replacement in patients with severe pulmonary
hypertension¡± were published in the Chinese Journal
of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Dr. Qu started research in transmyocardial laser
revascularization(TMLR) in 1996. The research was
involved in diagnostics, anesthesiology, nursing,
ultrasonography, nuclear medicine, pathology, molecular
biology, etc. His results were published in many
journals such as SPIE, Chinese Journal of Surgery.
A part of important results were also reported at
the Third Annual Scientific Meeting of the International
Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery in
Atlanta and the Meeting of The Therapeutic Angiogenesis
and Myocardial Laser Revascularization sponsored
by the American Heart Association in Santa Fe. He
was given the distinction of being called upon to
be a co-moderator in the symposium on TMLR at the
7th and 9th Annual Meeting of the Asian Society
for Cardiovascular Surgery.
From 1999 to 2002, Dr. QU and his students performed
the experimental study of combination TMLR and VEGF
gene therapy in ischemic porcine heart. He randomized
Ameroid models into ischemic control group, plasmid
control group, TMLR group, plasmid-VEGF165 group
and a combined TMLR plasmid-VEGF165 group. Coronary
angiography, 201TI-SPECT and dobutamin echocardiography
were used for estimation. His results showed TMLR
or VEGF gene could induce angiogenesis and then
improving ischemic wall motion, and transgene efficiency
was improved with the use of TMLR.
Dr. Qu started to carry out the project on research
and application of ventricle assist device three
years ago. He studied the effectiveness of MEDOS
VAD and AbioMed 5000 VAD in animal models and clinically
used T-PLS Device for seven patients suffered of
perioperative cardiac shock already.
Recent years, His team has performed a lot of
experimental studies on autologous stem cells such
as bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells or CD34+ cells
for Treating Acute Myocardial Ischemia.
